MONDELLIANI, THE FRAMES OF THE AMBIENT-MAKING AND ELEGANT PEOPLE
This year our lookbook is inspired by La Sape; an abbreviation based on theSociété des Ambianceurs et des Personnes Élégantes
(The Society of Ambiance-Makers and Elegant People).
La Sape is a social movement born out of in Brazzaville, the capital of the Republic of Congo. This movement embodies a throwback of elegance, style and manners of the colonial predecessors and the Congolese dandies of the time, which are in stark contrast with the environment they live in.
Mondelliani has decided to join and share their philosophy about life and style.
We design eyewear as a means of resistance against the drabness and standardization of the modern world.
Pictures are shot by Daniele Tamagni, an Italian photographer who documents African communities worldwide, from Africa itself to Peckham in London, undertaking specific projects focusing on culture, religion, music, fashion and art.
In 2009 Daniele took the art-world by storm with his pictures documenting the elegantly dressed society of Sapeurs in Brazzaville-Congo ‘La Sape’.
His photobook “Gentlemen of Bacongo: The Importance of Being Elegant”, made him an acclaimed photographer.
